STF Nab Notorious Teenage Syndicates

The Special Task Force (STF), mandated to restore peace on the Plateau, code name, Operation Safe Haven, has paraded 19 suspected criminals, of which eight of them are syndicate of notorious teenagers within the age bracket of 17-20 years old, that has been terrorising a popular highway leading to Jos, known as ‘Hawankibo’ in Hausa language.

Often their activities were carried out mostly at night which has left commuters and motorist plying the root at the mercy of these deadly gang, says Captain Ikedichi Iweha, spokes person for the STF.

Many has been injured, killed and lost belongings at Hawankibo to the notorious group, who has specialty in robing their victims between the hours of 7pm – 4am.

According to one of the suspects, he said they have been terrorising other communities in Plateau, such as Barkin-ladi, Bokkos and Ryiom.

Parading the suspects on Friday in Jos, at the STF Headquarters, the Commander, Major General Nicholas Rogers, stated that luck ran out of the group when operatives of the special-task-force rounded them up.

Rogers said his command will continue to arrest and parade hoodlums every fortnight on till Plateau is rid of criminals.

His words, “you will see that we have a lot of recovered weapons from these criminals. Some of them were caught right in the action, while some were caught after the must have robbed their victims and we traced them where ever they are.

“This explains why we have this quantity of arms and ammunition and these arms are the evidence we have against them and from here, we shall hand them over to the Police.

We shall continue on this clearance operation, until criminals will not have a safe haven in Plateau”, Rogers said.

However, among the arms recovered are five locally made single barrel, machetes, bullets, Handsets, Working-sticks and five locally made revolver among others.
