Senate to screen ambassadorial nominees tomorrow

The Senate will tomorrow begin the screening of 46 non-career ambassadorial nominees submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation, Daily Trust has gathered.

The screening would be carried out by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs chaired by Senator Monsurat Sunmonu (APC, Oyo). The committee was on January 17, given two weeks to screen the nominees.

President Buhari had on January 11th; sent the names of 46 politicians to the Senate for confirmation as ambassadors.

A source in the committee said the decision to commence the screening tomorrow was reached last Wednesday during a meeting chaired by Senator Sunmonu.

He said 12 nominees would be screened daily and that the exercise will last four days.
