Russia 2018: Kwara Correspondents hail Wike for sponsoring 10 Journalists
The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara Council has hailed Rivers state governor, Nysome Wike for sponsoring 10 Nigerian Journalists including one of its members to the ongoing FIFA soccer World cup in Russia.
Mr .Yinka Owolewa of News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN), Ilorin office and 9 others across the country were among Nigerian Journalists currently in Russia for World cup coverage courtesy of the River state governor.
This was contained in a statement issued in Ilorin by its Chairman, Layi Olanrewaju and Secretary, Umar Abdulwahab.
The statement noted that the opportunity provided to the Journalists by the governor would go a long way in enhancing their capabilities in the coverage of major international sporting events within and outside the country in future.
It urged Nigerians to invest well in Sports as it remains Nigerian’s unifying factor.
The statement also congratulated the Super Eagles on their victory over Iceland last Friday.
The statement expressed delight that the Super Eagles have made Nigerians and Africa proud by their performance in their last Friday’s match.
It urged the Nigerian team to go all-out against Argentina in their last group match on Tuesday (today) in order to advance to the next round of the biggest world sporting event.
