Rivers PDP taunts Amaechi, APC over alleged failure to recover state oil wells

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has said that the Minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, lacked the courage to accept that their alleged failure to return all the oil wells of the state ceded to neighbouring states, particularly Bayelsa.
The PDP said that it was laughable that close to two years after Rivers people were promised to get back their oil wells, nothing has happened in the positive direction.
The State chairman of the party, Chief Felix Obuah, in a statement signed by his special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, in Port Harcourt on Thursday, made the assertions in response to the defense of the Minister by his aides over the oil wells believed to have been wrongly ceded to the neighbouring states which he (Minister) promised would be returned to the state government within six months of the Buhari administration.
The PDP who jettisoned the ‘illegality’ of the judgements denying Rivers State ownership of the oil wells, said that what mattered to it was the “unfulfilled promise” of Rt. Hon. Amaechi which he made during the electioneering campaign.
“If the APC were wiser, the best thing to do is to keep silent and learn from their miscalculation for a better image than trying to defend an indefensible goof,” the state PDP Chairman declared.
Chief Obuah stated that not addressing the issue since the APC took over at the centre portended greater danger to democratic ideals and would “definitely corrupt the psyche of the innocent citizens of our land that may have joined the APC bandwagon.”
