Rivers govt donates 20 patrol vehicles to police

As part of its supportive effort towards eliminating criminalities, Rivers state government has donated 20 patrol vehicles, bullet proof vests, telephone handsets with hotlines and helmet to the state police command.

Presenting the items at the police officers mess during the launching of the Eminent Persons Forum. Gov. Nyesom Wike, represented by the permanent secretary, Government House, Mr. Onyenachi Nwankwo said it was part of this administrations confirmative promise to the security agencies in the state that government will always give an unreserved support to them as long as it concern security of lives and property because it operates on the principle of zero tolerance to criminalities.

Reaffirming government’s relentless efforts on the issue, Gov. Wike used the occasion to call for synergy between members of the public and the security agents through useful information since the worms are living amongst us, adding that security issue is everybody’s responsibility.

Commissioning the vehicles, C P Foluso Adebanjo, who is the state commissioner of police said that it was a product of his strategic tour to some vulnerable areas of the state during his first assumption of office on June 21, 2016, with a view to ensuring adequate and prompt response to security situations by the Police.
