Religious leaders appeal to youths to shun politicians who use them as thugs

Youth leaders of both Christian and Muslims in Tafawa Belewa and Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State near Jos, has advised youths in the community to shun politicians who only use them as thugs to cause violence in other to archive selfish political goals.

The religious leaders spoke at the weekend in a town hall meeting organised to persuade youths to follow the part of peace aimed at putting to rest the incessant crisis that has hitherto bedevilled the region.

One of the leaders and convener of the forum, Mr. Kefas Kira, said he is in control of over 40,000 youths and will no longer allow any politician use them for the detriment of peaceful coexistence.

Mr. Kura hold the view that most political office holders in Bauchi state set youths against themselves for the sole reason to use them rig elections.

According to him, “I advise youths to shun violence in the next elections: refuse to be use as war tools in the hands of desperate politicians, they have been using you to achieve their selfish aims, we must caution ourselves not to be use again, particularly in the next general election come 2019.”

“Because of crisis, most people have lost their livelihood and are living from hand to mouth, therefore, if we do not talk to ourselves to live in peace with one another irrespective religion and ethnic difference, the situation of our children will be worse in the future,” he said.
