Police parade 3 ritualists for killing 6-year-old girl in Taraba
Taraba State Police Command on Friday paraded a three-man syndicate of ritualists at the command headquarters in Jalingo.
Parading the suspects: Adamu Mohammed Male, Umaimatu Tanimu, female and Abdullahi Abubakar, male, all of Sabongida village in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State, the Police image maker, ASP David Misal said the suspects had on September 2, at about 2000hrs lured a six-year- old Maimuna Yahaya, female and took her to an isolated area at the outskirt of the village where they slaughtered her with a knife.
David Misal said, Umaimatu Tanimu who along with Adamu Mohammed revealed to them that having slaughtered the girl, slit open her stomach and removed her kidney, took it to the third suspect, Abdullahi Abubakar who instructed them to do same with the promise of making money ritual for them.
“The suspects, who earlier escaped after the dastardly act were tracked by a team of police detectives through reliable and actionable intelligence,
“Suspects are being investigated of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide and will be arraigned before a competent court”, said PPRO.
According to ASP Misal, the Commissioner of Police, CP. David Akinremi however, assured the people of the state that the Command is determined to fight against criminal activities in the State.
While calling on the general public to continue providing reliable information to the Police, the Command also warned criminal minded individuals to desist from any lawless act.
Answering questions from journalists, Adamu Mohammed and Umaimatu confessed committing the act, saying Abdullahi Abubakar the ritualist deceived them to bring human kidney with a view to making money ritual for them. He added that they regretted committing the act.
