Police officer arrested over abduction, defilement of 14 year old girl in Anambra

The Anambra police command said it has arrested a police corporal on a special duty at the Okpoko Division in Onitsha who allegedly abducted and defiled a girl of 14 years old said to have been laying about in the area without any clear-cut destination.

Briefing newsmen at the command headquarters, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Garba Baba Umar, said the police was not known for such ignoble act and that the culprit will have to face justice for having carnal knowledge and kidnapping a minor.

Umar explained that “the police wishes to confirm the arrest of force number 275601 corporal Bara ‘U’ Garba attached to 7 PMF in Sokoto state but deployed to Anambra state on special duty; for the alleged abduction and defilement of a young girl aged 14 years and she lives at Hausa quarters in Asaba Delta state.”

The police commissioner further disclosed that “the erring police man was arrested, defaulted and detained accordingly and is facing police internal disciplinary procedures, adding that as soon as the internal procedures are completed, the erring police officer will be arraigned before a competent court of the land for prosecution.

He therefore described the incident as a sad episode ; a isolated case which according to him does not reflect the core values and ethics of the Nigeria police force assuring that justice must take its natural course in the matter.
