Police in Yobe begin clampdown on motorists with tinted glasses, others

Police in Yobe State said it has commenced operations against the unauthorised usage of cars with tinted glasses, covered number plates, spy number plates and diplomatic number plates in the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Sahabo Abubakar, who led a joint operation comprising of Police personnel and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) earlier in the week, warned members of the general public to desist from such acts.

A press statement obtained from the Police Public Relations (PPRO), Yobe Police Command, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, on Friday, said the move was aimed at enhancing the existing security measures em-placed in the fight against crimes and criminality in the state.

ASP Abdulkarim also disclosed that credible information gathered by police showed a slight increase in criminal activities in the state.

According to him, burglary, theft, robbery and other related vices are some of the criminal tendencies bedeviling the state as the state shut its boundaries in the fight against Covid-19.

“It is against this backdrop that the CP advised the general public to be cautious of suspicious activities around them, remain vigilant, report all criminal tendencies and to be security conscious at all times,” Abdulkarim said.

The Commissioner assured law-abiding members of the public of their safety and security while they go about their day-to-day lawful activities in the wake of the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.
