Police foil attempt to snatch Uber car, arrest 1 suspect

Operatives from the Maroko Police Division have arrested one Ogundoju Olalekan for allegedly snatching a Toyota Corolla saloon car, with registration number KJA 69 FE from an Uber driver. The suspect who lives at No.14 Shomorin street, Ifako Gbagada had bordered the Uber car alongside his friend who is still at Large from the African Shrine on January 23, 2018, at about 11:30pm. Shortly after the car drove from African Shrine, the suspects had threatened the driver, Ogadinma Ikeagu with two wooden prototypes of berretta pistols and made away with the car. The Anti crime patrol team of Maroko Police Station led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Isah Abdulmajid, who were on crime prevention patrol, came across the driver who was crying for help. According to the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti who confirmed the arrest said, “the driver narrated that his car had just been snatched by two passengers he picked at the African Shrine. “The DPO took the driver in his patrol vehicle and they drove in the same direction taken by the thieves while escaping with the car. Fortunately for the distressed Uber Driver, the Police team was able to intercept the car within Victoria Island. “Although one of the thieves escaped, the team arrested his crime partner Olalekan. He was immediately searched and two wooden prototypes of berretta pistols were recovered from him. “On interrogation, he confessed to have committed the crime.” Meanwhile, the Command Commissioner of Police, CP Imohimi Edgal has directed that the fleeing member of the Uber snatching syndicate must be arrested to face the law.
