Police arraigns Fidson manager over alleged N16.7m fraud

For allegedly defrauding a pharmaceutical manufacturer firm, Fidson Health Care Plc,of the sum of N16. 7m, a regional sales manager of the firm, Taofik Ajisebutu, was on Friday brought before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Ajisebutu, 43, was arraigned by the Ikoyi Police Division before Mr. B. A. Shonuga on a three-count charge marked D/44/2017 bordering on forgery and stealing.
Prosecuting Sergeant Friday Mameh told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences on June 5, 2017 during work hours at the firm’s office.
He said Ajisebutu forged a Local Purchase Order (LPO) bearing Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) to obtain drugs valued at N16.77m from his employers under false pretence.
Mameh said Ajisebutu was arrested by the police following a complaint by Fidson.
The firm told the police that its regional manager presented an LPO for N16, 776, 620.00 claiming that it was from the management of LUTH for the supply of drugs, following which the drugs were released to him.
Ajisebutu allegedly sold and converted the proceeds to his personal use.
According to the police, when Fidson approached LUTH for payment, the hospital denied issuing any LPO to Ajisebutu.
Mammeh said the offences were contrary to sections 312(1), 361 and 285(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Ajisebutu pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Shonuga granted him bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties in the like sum.
Meanwhile the matter has been adjourned till August 29 for mention.
Brother kills brother over girlfriend quarrel in Asaba

A 21-year old man (name withheld) and resident of Infant Jesus in Asaba Delta State has allegedly killed his younger brother, 19 years old (name withheld) over girlfriend disagreement.
It was reliably gathered that the incident which occurred in the early hours of yesterday attracted several persons to the scene where the victim was found in a pool of blood.
Eye witness said trouble started over a girlfriend (name withheld), and degenerated into serious verbal crossfire; a situation the suspect allegedly drew out kitchen knife to take the life of the brother.
The eye witness further said that the suspect had been going out with the said girl until the bubble burst when he stumbled on the unsuspecting younger brother in a hotel room allegedly having fun with her.
In attempt to query him, informed sources said, degenerated into verbal crossfire where the suspect in wild anger allegedly drew out kitchen knife to take the life of his brother.
The suspect was said to have been arrested on the spot by the police from ‘A’ Division where he is being detained for further investigation.
But the State Police Commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim said the suspect was arrested for allegedly stabbing his younger brother on the stomach, adding the corpse of the victim was deposited at the FMC Mortuary while investigation was ongoing on the act.
