PLSG Boost Water Supply Task Residence On Prompt Payment Of Bill

Plateau State Government has intensified effort towards providing clean and safe water to residence in the urban and rural settlement, said that its aim is to ensure that every home has certified clean water for consumption.
Speaking at the monthly press briefing organised by the Commissioner for Information Plateau State, Mr Nafiz Ahmed, the General Manager, Plateau State Water Board, Mr Lambert Isa-Gonzuk, noted that the board has extended water supply to about four Local Government, apart from Jos metropolis which has witnessed increase in water supply and extension to areas that has not received water in the past 20 years.
Gonzuk is quoted saying that one of the matching order of Governor Simon Lalong, when he took over office, was for every community in Plateau to have clean water. “Coming on board as the GM, my task is to see that this directive is fulfilled and as at today, I can tell you that most of the communities that has not seen water for over 20 years, now have constant water supply from water board”.
The GM said, “I told the governor, that we can give 24 hours water supply to the people of Plateau only if we get his support and now, we have been able to achieve this much because of the support Lalong has given us”.
He however, fingered attitude of staff to work and dedication to duty as one of the problems that mitigated against having functional and efficient water services in the state, as well as rusted pipelines, lack of functional machine to pump water and inadequate power supply.
He said as his office was committed in tackling these issues, government has also continue to supply the Board diesel at no cost to power water as well as treatment chemicals for the next four years.
“This commendable and laudable support from government has contributed largely to the success the Plateau State Water Board has recorded since this administration came on board”.
Gonzuk called on residence to ensure prompt payment of bill as consumption of water cannot be sustained without chargers.
