Peace talks to be discussed every four months — new STF boss

The Special Task Force (STF) Commander in Plateau and some parts of Bauchi state on Wednesday said peace talk will be held every four months among stakeholders to discuss the furtherance of peace in the state.
The STF Commander, Major General Anthony Atolagbe, who assumed office two weeks ago, said peace has returned to the state but the discussion of peace among key principal personalities will help to sustain it, saying that “we shall hold peace talk meeting every four months to discuss post conflict issues, because people need to understand that peace has returned so they can go about their normal day to day activities with confidence.”
Speaking with stakeholders who converged at the task-force Headquarters, the Commander emphasised that people must learn to accommodate each other to pave way for meaningful development.
“We have found out that dialogue is very essential to peace negotiation; peace has been on ground so all we need to do is to find ways to forester it.
“it is not only when there is crisis that we should be meeting, but we should meet to discuss ways to further nurture and advance the course of peace; and this is why we are having the stakeholders with us today so that we can discuss post conflict because we already have the much needed peace”, he said.
The STF boss, who is now also in-charge of four local government areas in Southern Kaduna, said he is encouraged with the level of turnout at the meeting saying the command decided to embark on such meetings because it has realised the importance of information communication to the people at the grassroots.
