PDP stalwart berates northern leaders for poor state region

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi state, Alhaji Bashir Bukar Rimin Zayam, has berated the Northern political office holders for not doing enough to see to the development of the region.
Zayam who made the call while speaking with newsmen on the 57th independence anniversary in Bauchi, said “there is the need for President Muhammadu Buhari to deploy more political will and ensure that oil search in the northern part of the country is successful, do more in Ajaokuta steal company as well as complete the dredging of River Niger which was started during the regime of late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua,” he said.
Rimin Ziyam also advised President Muhammadu Buhari, to leave a bequeath legacy by ensuring success in the oil exploration in the north, dredging of River Niger and to complete the project of Ajaokuta rolling mills.
According to him, if these three projects are completed in addition to revamping the railway sector the President will be remembered after he left office, saying those are some of the genuine legacies that will address unemployment, poverty and boost the socio economic development of the North and the country as a whole.
Bukar, who is one of the founding fathers of PDP and a onetime Bauchi State Publicity Secretary of party, said time is going with many appointees having nothing to show in their areas, advising them to emulate service chiefs that created military units and schools in their states of origin which assisted in the development of the states and the country at large.
“At this period, many people were appointed on key offices from the northern part of the country but many of them were adamant, reluctant, not doing enough to bring development to their areas. I therefore urge them to unite and help the President to succeed in three key areas of; the ongoing oil exploration in the north, dredging of river Niger and the Ajaokuta rolling mills project which will assist in boosting the economy of the country. if they fail to do that, they are not helping the northern Nigeria,” he stated.
The PDP stalwart urged Northern Governors, Ministers and other political appointees from the region to do more for their people in an effort to bring about socio -economic development in the country.
While calling on all Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and stability of the country, Ziyam advised the leaders to be more patriotic and do everything possible to ameliorate the sufferings of the masses who made a historic sacrifice that enthroned this government to power.
He urged for unity among Nigerians, explaining that “it is in the collective interest of all Nigerians to support and remain stead fast to the cause of a united Nigeria.”
