PDP set for its delegates elective convention

All is now set for the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP delegates convention designed to elect members of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC.
The Eagle Square Abuja, venue of the elective convention is already wearing a new look with the resplendent colours of the PDP.
Consequently, the Wadatta House, national headquarters of the opposition party is a beehive of activities as party loyalists are seen milling around. Small business men and women are also using the occasion of the pre convention activities to make brisk business both at the Wadatta and the Legacy Houses of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
signaturetv.com.ng correspondent who visited the party headquarters at the Wuse Zone 5 area of Abuja described the scene as carnival like as the whole environment is inundated with party faithful, loyalists, media people jostling for accreditation ahead of the convention as well as other Nigerians who have developed interest in the activities of the party.
In an exclusive interview with signaturetv.com.ng in Abuja on Thursday, the National Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Senator Ben Obi, said that arrangements have been concluded by the party to hold its elective convention on Saturday.
Senator Obi added that about 3,000 delegates are expected to vote for the various candidates vying for positions in the National Working Committee, NWC of the People’s Democratic Party.
“We are set to go and I’m optimistic that the convention will be a huge success. We are masters in the game you know,” he enthused.
He said that eight candidates are contesting for the chairmanship position while some others are vying for the other positions such as the National Publicity Secretary, the National Secretary, Treasurer, Auditor, Legal Adviser etc.
Senator Ben Obi also said that the party used the non elective convention it held earlier in the year to test the waters and it was a huge success. He insisted that the weekend convention would position the party for the 2019 general election as well as its roles as the main opposition party in the country.
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP convention is scheduled to hold at the Eagle Square, Abuja on Saturday, 9th December, 2017.
