PDP excos sued over tenure elongation

Some aggrieved members of Ogun, Lagos and Abuja chapters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) have dragged their respective state executives to court over extension of their tenures.
The court action is coming few days to the 2016 commencement of the congresses of the party beginning on April 30 with the Ward congresses and ending on May 28 with the party National Convention.
The aggrieved members of Ogun State chapter are Barrister Wasiu Boladele, Alhaja Nike Odutola, Semiu Babatunde, Barr. Semiu Adesanya and Elder Sola Soledolu against the PDP, Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), the chairman of the party in Ogun State, Engr. Adedayo Bayo and the Secretary, Alhaji Semiu Shodipo as 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th defendants respectively.
The claimants in the suit filed before Justice M.A. Ojo of an Abeokuta High Court, are seeking a declaration of the court that ‘ by provisions of Article 47(1) (a) of the constitution of the PDP(as amended), the tenure of office of the 3rd and 4th defendants has elapsed, that the National Working Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BOT) of cannot extend the tenure of office of any of her organ, be it national, state, local and ward which has elapsed without National Convention approval.
