Palliatives: FIRS demands prompt tax payment from Banks, telecos, Supermarkets

Federal Inland Revenue Service has demanded prompt tax payment from industries which it described as “booming” in this period of covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement signed by FIRS boss, Muhammad Nami, he stated that the palliatives measures were taken as a result if the outbreak of covid-19.
He stated that the pandemic has made some sectors to experience boom due to Increased transactions as a result of the lockdown.
He mentioned that the sectors are Financial Institutions, Telecommunications, Supermarkets, e-commerce and manufacturers and processors of products.
He appealed to the aforementioned Corporate bodies to be timely in tax payment so that the Federal government can use it to provide palliatives for Nigerians.

Following the reactions of Nigerians on Twitter today, FIRS further stated that telecommunications companies are presently the biggest winners of the Lockdown.
Telecomm Cos are the biggest winners of the lockdown. People make more calls and buy more data than they used to; supermarkets stocking and restocking like never before. Why? Because demand on stock is more than usual. Isn't it only fair and patriotic that they pay their taxes?
