Over 200 PDP women protests Kaduna governorship election result

Heavy but peaceful protests on Thursday rocked Kaduna state following the outcome of the governorship election held on 18th march 2023.

The over 200 women protesters all in black and black shirts, cloths and attires stormed the premises of the Nigerian Union of journalists (NUJ), Kaduna state council, chanting and singing with placards bearing different inscriptions.

Led by high class ladies, the women supports groups furiously and outrightly condemned the results of the governorship election, saying it was rigged hundred percent and therefore unacceptable.

The protesters were led by the trio of former Minister of Environment, Mrs Laurentia Laruba Mallam, former Commissioner for Women Affairs in the State, Mrs Maria Dogo, former National Women Leader of the People’s Democratic Party, Madinat Abdullahi, former party’s state woman leader and host of other virtues women.

Earlier, the protesters called for the restoration of what they referred to as the “Stolen mandate” of their party candidate, Isah Ashiru of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Kaduna state.

Recalled that the candidate of the ruling party in the State, APC, Sen. Uba Sani was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, after several postponements.

The all women protesters and few men expressed disappointment and accused the INEC of manipulations that was allegedly orchestrated by the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Usman Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Prof. Lawal Bilbis.

PDP women protesters in their dozens carried various placards which read “Kaduna People elected, INEC selected, No to result manipulations, No to Election Rigging, a Stolen Mandate not acceptable”, among others.

On why the protest was concentrated in and out the NUJ Secretariat, they explained that as law abiding citizens they did nit want hoodlums to highjack the process and lead it to a break down of law and order because of love their dialling state”,

Also not that PDP, in the State severely rejected the outcome of the Gubernatorial election severally and gave a strong promised of challenging the results in court.
