Osun: Three Killed as Police, Robbers Clash
About three persons, believed to be members of an armed robbery gang, have been killed during a gun battle with the Police.
The robbers were alleged to have been terrorising residents of Oke-Baale in Osogbo, Osun State.
Police sources disclosed that men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), led by DSP Adekunle Omoyele, received a distress call from the residents and promptly went after the robbers.
It was learnt that while the policemen were combing the bush in search of the robbers, they noticed a Lexus car, which was trying to maneuvre from behind a bus and speed off.
“It was waved down by the SARS men for a search, but the driver sped off”, said a police source.
The SARS squad, immediately, pursued it, consequently, the robbers abandoned a gold coloured Toyota Camry car with registration number LND 847 AJ, while those in the Lexus car shot sporadically at the pursuing policemen.
