Ortom sympathizes with Lagos explosion victims

Governor Samuel Ortom on behalf of the government and people of Benue state has sent his sympathies to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the government of Lagos state and the families of victims of the explosion which occurred in Abule Ado, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos.

He described the incident which left some persons dead and many others injured as sad, unfortunate and shocking.

Gov. Ortom urged relevant agencies to ascertain the cause of the explosion and make efforts to cushion the effects it has had on those affected, while commending the state government for it prompt reaction to cushion to the blast.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Terver Akase, said the governor has received with sadness, the news of the fire which gutted the Otukpo Main Market in the early hours of Monday with rude shock.

It said Gov. Ortom sympathizes with shop owners and all traders whose investments were affected by the fire and appreciates God that no life was lost.

The governor, according to the statement will personally visit the market to ascertain the level of damage caused by the inferno whose cause is yet to be ascertained.

For some time, no no week passes in the state without a record of fire disaster with the latest been fire incidents at Gboko Maintain Market, GSS Gboko and Divine Mercy Minor Seminary, Kanshio in Makurdi Local Government Area of the state among others.

In all these incidents, victims have cried out for help as both the state and federal fire services in the state appear to have no solution to controlling such major fire outbreaks
