One-Way Drive : Lagos Mobile Court to Forfeit 55 Vehicles to Government

The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force has impounded 55 vehicles around Adekunle Fadeyi Road, Ikeja for driving against up coming vehicles (One-way) thereby causing obstructions to motorists driving towards Railway-lines at Shogunle, Lagos.

The 55 vehicles were impounded for contravening Schedule (1) Item 27 of the Lagos State Road Traffic Law of 2012.

According to the taskforce chairman SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, the enforcement operations was based on the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Edgal Imohimi to to carry out enforcement operations on motorists plying BRT Corridors and those driving against traffic thereby causing obstructions cross the State.

Egbeyemi said, “it was gathered that an incident occurred few days ago where train would have crushed a family to death inside a Toyota Camry because of motorists driving against up coming vehicles (One-way) at Adekunle Faguyi Road around Shogunle.

” The drivers/owners of these impounded vehicles were today arraigned for prosecutions on the directive of the Lagos CP EDGAL IMOHIMI before Magistrate Lateef Owolabi and Magistrate Patrick Uwaka of the Lagos State Mobile Court sitting at Oshodi, Lagos

“25 of them who appeared today in court had their vehicles forfieted to the Lagos State Government.”

He however warned motorists to desists from plying BRT Corridors, driving against up coming vehicles (One-way) and any other traffic offences as contained inside the Lagos State Road Traffic Law of 2012.
