Ondo Primaries: UK APC Members Call For Credible Election
The Ondo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the United Kingdom have called for the conduct of a credible primary election to help pick the best candidate of the party ahead of the November 26th governorship election in the state.
Vice Chairman of the party in the United Kingdom, Mr. Ayo Adigun, who made the call in a statement issued to journalists said if the election is transparent it must also be acceptable by to all the aspirants vying for the party’s governorship ticket.
Adigun expressed optimism that the APC would win the governorship election in the state and tasked both the delegates and members of the party to remain focused on the governorship candidate that is very optimistic about the future of the state.
“The governorship candidate for APC must be a person who has the ability to imagine how Ondo state can be developed in the future and develop a strategic implementation plan suitable for the benefit of the citizens.
“The governorship candidate must be able to focus on the unique strengths of individual and resolute for making a better tomorrow than today and remain hopeful”
He hinted that the members of the party in the United Kingdom have unanimously resolved to use all available resources and international connections to support a credible and visionary individual who is capable of creating a positive future.
He explained that the type of governor the people of Ondo State needs now is someone that can thrive on innovation, change and encourage creative thinking and problem-solving skills in government.
Mr. Adigun has also condemned the Dr. Olusegun Mimiko’s led administration for its inability to revive all the government owned ailing companies.
He disclosed that current government of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under governor Mimiko is confused and lack proper leadership directions.
“The government has no economic policy to revamp any of the dead industries that is capable of providing employment to our teaming population.
Mr. Adigun sited examples of moribund companies like Ifon Ceramic Industry, Oluwa Glass Industry and Nigeria-Romania Wood Industry (NIROWI) in the state that were yet un-revived.
“Considering the current economic downturn, The PDP government in state failed to come up with an effective framework to reduce the cost of administration of governance and political appointments, in a way that will reflect the current economic reality in order to enhance payment of civil servant salaries and pensioners”.
He explained that If one of these industries was revamped by the current administration it would have guarantee up to 2,000 jobs with a multiple effect on social and economic development of the local community.
