The Nigeria Police Force in the Ondo state Command on Wednesday paraded no fewer than 25 suspected criminals in connection with the recent killings by cult members in the capital city of Akure.

The suspects were mostly arrested on Tuesday for allegedly being responsible for the bloody clashes that claimed over three lives in renewed cult war in the state.

Femi Joseph, Spokesman of the police in the State who spoke to journalists shortly after parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Akure, said the culprits were nabbed through intelligence gathering by the police.

Mr. Joseph disclosed that the suspects were apprehended in their various hideouts in the nooks and crannies of the state after perpetrating their criminal acts.

He maintained that three of the arrested suspects between the ages of 18 and 20 years old were ex convicts and nabbed at an uncompleted building beside the State House of Assembly.

The Police image maker, however, denied that the initial report in the dailies (excluding Daily Times) that the teenagers were ritualists hiding in the building was untrue.

He also added that the police through its detectives was still in search of other suspected criminals who had been terrorizing the people of the state capital and robbing them of their personal belongings.

“The teenagers: Wale Ayemowa, Bidemi Victor, Ojo Odunayo and Omololu Kayode James, only engaged in petty thieves by looting shops and its owners.

“They also sleep inside the uncompleted building as a result of parental challenges but I can assure that the police would deal decisively with them”.

Joseph promised that the police was already preparing to arrange the arrested suspects in court after investigation and evidences showed that many of them were criminals.
