Ondo Govt inaugurates task force over ban on forestry reserve
The Ondo state government has inaugurated a task force to monitor the activities of logging activities and forest reserves in the state.
The state government on March 3, 2017 banned longing activities in the state at the government forestry reserves.
The acting Permanent Secretary of Ondo state Ministry of Natural Resources, Mr. Dalling Salau, who inaugurated the task force, said it was mandated to combat anti-encroachment activities and unlaw activities.
Salau added that the task force must ensure restoration of sanity, orderliness and should deal with illegal activities, encroachment and planting of seeds such as cannabis.
He urged the task force to maintain synergy and avoid internal rivalry so that the state could benefit from forest resources that would translate into enhancing internally generated revenue that would move the state forward.
Daily Times gathered that the task force comprises of personnel of Nigerian Army, Police and the ministry’s forest guards and headed by Lt. Nurudeen Maiadua.
Speaking at the event, Maiadua pledged commitment to the new assignment and assured that anyone that ran fouls of the mandate of the task force would be dealt with decisively.
