Assembly

The Ondo State House of Assembly has warned state Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that have yet to appear before it for the state audit for the years 2015 to 2018 to do so.

Mr. Samuel Edamisan, the Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on Public Account Committee (PAC), said this during Public Sitting on 2015 to 2018 reports of the state Auditor-General, on Wednesday in Akure.

Edamisan said that the committee had scrutinised almost 99 per cent of the state MDAs.

According to him, the committee will continue to handle some minor issues emanating from MDAs as regards public funds.

”The remaining one per cent should appear on Monday June 15, 2020 by 10a.m. We are empowered by the constitution that failure of the MDAs to appear will prompt us to enforce appropriate actions under the law.

”We have written several letters and we will not write again to them. We will resume on Monday for the purpose of those that have not appeared,” he said.

Edamisan said that findings on the missing N4.3 billion matter would be perfected and not kept under carpet.

He said: ”Our findings on N4.3 billion are still ongoing and everybody has been cooperating, and we will get to the root of the matter, though there is so much pressure on us and a lot of questions.

”At the appropriate time, we will write our report and make it available to people of Ondo State through the house plenary.

”We want to urge our people to please be patient with us that whatever we find will not be kept secret.

“We are also looking at the turbine station project which is about N5 billion to N6 billion . It started from a long time.

“If that money is being expended on a project, the people of Ondo State must know, and we will keep working on it.”

The chairman said that the committee would also investigate a N5 billion water project handled by the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) five years ago.

”Every money must be accounted for. We are not hiding anything from our people,” he said.
