Ondo 2016: Bola Aidi emerges UPN candidate

Bola Aidi, was at the weekend declared the flag bearer of the Unity Party (UPN) ahead of governorship election slated for November 26th in Ondo state.
Aidi, a practising lawyer, emerged the sole Aspirant of the party at its Maiden State Congress held at the A&T Presidential Hotel in Akure.
Daily Times gathered that the Ikare-Akoko born legal practitioner cum politician was unanimously adopted by 100 delegates across the 18 local government areas of the state.
The governorship primary election was moderated by the party’s National Vice Chairman (South-South) Prince N. Abbi and monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and supervised by the security agencies in the State.
Speaking at the event after his emergence, Aidi appreciated the delegates for finding him worthy to fly the flag of party for the November 26 governorship poll.
He described his emergence as the candidate of the party as the beginning of a new dawn in the state and expressed optimism that the party would return to the political scene for true service to the people.
The UPN governorship candidate stated that he is ready to focus on development of manpower and job creation for all if he becomes the next governor of Ondo state.
He also maintained that he would build on the good foundation of progressive and development stride of the founding fathers of the party among which are Chief Obafemi Awolowo and later by the Late Adekunle Ajasin.
The State Chairman of the party, Comrade Rotimi Boboye, said the party was ready to take its rightful position not only in the state but in the country.
Boboye said the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) is a party without a blemish either in the past or in the present political dispensations and expressed confident that it would win the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
He said the party would invest into the economy of the State if it would the election and come into government.
“We have resolved and we determined to take our rightful place. It is our birthright and our destiny to be the Nation’s Ondo State light.
“The people will remain first in all our considerations, the very best for the greatest number of our people shall be pursued with all our vigour”, Boboye stressed.
