“Ogun State LG is nothing but pure travesty of justice”

By Ikechukwu John Uformadu

In a scathing critique of the recently concluded Local Government (LG) elections in Ogun State, Abayomi Rotimi mighty has described the process as despicable, emphasizing that it was an orchestrated farce by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) where candidates were handpicked. He added that the entire exercise was a travesty of justice and a gross insult to the collective intelligence of the good people of Ogun State.

He also condemned the government’s irresponsibility at both the state and national levels, blaming them for the growing voter apathy experienced in recent elections.

Abayomi Rotimi mighty has said that there were poor voter turnouts in Ondo State and Ogun State LG elections which are linked to electorates’ disillusionment. With reports revealing that the 2024 Edo State governorship election saw a turnout of only 29%, while the Ondo State election recorded a mere 18% participation. Ogun State fared even worse, with voter turnout plummeting to an abysmal 12%.

Abayomi Rotimi mightyalso added that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has continuously shown that they lack the grit and capability to conduct credible elections. He described INEC as a willing accomplice in an obvious attempt at state capture under the Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led regime. Maintaining that INEC’s failure to act independently has eroded public trust in its ability to uphold electoral integrity.

Abayomi Rotimi mighty argued and lamented the spectacular failure of INEC at the elections in Edo and Ondo states, stating that these elections served as litmus tests for INEC ahead of the 2027 general elections. Yet INEC failed woefully to redeem itself.

He expressed concerns that these repeated failures are not just administrative lapses but deliberate acts to undermine democracy and perpetuate injustice.

“INEC has once again proven itself incapable of delivering free, fair, and credible elections,” he declared.

He went on to caution INEC that the people would no longer tolerate the systemic disenfranchisement perpetuated by INEC and complicit political elites. He emphasized that the 2027 general elections would be a defining moment, urging citizens to be vigilant and protect their votes at all costs, urging electorates to revolts against electoral injustices if the status quo persists.

Abayomi Rotimi mighty reiterated his readiness to lead the nation, he assured his supporters of his unwavering commitment to restoring genuine hope to Nigerians; and posits that he is the only candidate capable of standing shoulder to shoulder with Tinubu, promising to confront the systemic failures head-on.

“I am prepared to take up the mantle of leadership and deliver the REAL HOPE to Nigerians,” he asserted.

He ended his remark by encouraging the people not to lose hope but to remain steadfast in their quest for justice and equity. He urged them to stay united in demanding accountability and promised to champion their cause as a leader who truly represents their interests.
