Ogba makes case for Eagles ahead Russia 2018

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports and Youth Development, Senator Obinna Ogba has called on Public and Private Companies to come out en-masse and support the Super Eagles as the national team matches towards the World Cup in Russia 2018.
Speaking with some journalists in his office, Ogba said the players should be given kudos for a clinical finishing against Zambia in Uyo last weekend.
“What we will need to do as a country is to support them and pray for the team; before now what we use to do is to press calculator seeking for how many goals we will score to get to the next stage, but now we have qualified with one more match to go.
“So something good has happened, it is a pointer that in Russia so many good things will come to our favor and we will go beyond the group stages,” he said.
Ogba called on journalists reporting sports across the country to come to the aide of the NFF and give positive reportage of Eagles preparations for Russia 2018 so that the morale of the team can be given a boost.
“What people should be talking about is how we will perform in Russia, what are those things that can stop us from performing well and stop bickering about players because both home-based and foreign-based players in the Super Eagles are all Nigerians.
“You also have to thank those foreign players who accepted to play for the country because there are so many of our players who are abroad and have refused to play for us despite efforts to reach out to them.
“Some of them I am aware the NFF president, Amaju Pinnick invited them and hosted them to a dinner alongside their parents yet they declined choosing to play for foreign nations. Therefore those of them who accepted to play for us lets congratulate them,” Ogba concluded.
