Ocheme bemoans Rangers ouster

Enugu Rangers central attacker, Edoh Ocheme said his side played one of their finest games against the Egyptian giants, Zamalek Sporting Club.

The Flying Antelopes overcome their Mediterranean Knights opponents 2-1 in Sunday’s reverse fixture clash of the CAF Champions League(CCL) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Sadium in Enugu.

However, the Nigerian champions were ousted from the Africa’s first tier club competition on 3-5 aggregate by the North African side.

Ocheme said his side are just waking up to the reality of their painful elimination from Africa’s prime club competition despite giving the clash their very best.

“Everybody is down and the entire camp, the fans, state and its environs are damn shocked at our elimination from the CAF Champions League.

“Nobody believes we would go out quite early in the competition notwithstanding the 1-4 loss in Cairo, Egypt.

“We outright played our best game so far in the competition against Zamalek on Sunday in Enugu.

“Even with the ouster our teeming fans surprisingly were not hostile to us possibly because they were convinced we gave the clash our very best.

“Perhaps that is how God wanted it to happen, we have accepted the result in good faith as there is nothing again we can do to upturn the game.

“We are consoled with the reality that we will drop down to partake in the CAF Confederation Cup.

“That looks like a window of opportunity for us to compensate our teeming fans with a superb performance and chance contest of the podium dance,” said the former Giwa FC marksman said.
