All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha, one of the oldest schools for the training of Catholic priests in Eastern Nigeria after 91 years of her existence, marked her feast day on the November 1, 2016 with the commissioning of an ultra-modern e-library and the Archbishop Valerian Music Centre by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Governor Willie Obiano, after the dedication by the Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Okeke.

The feast day which started off with a concelebrated High Mass, had theArchbishop assisted by his auxiliary Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Dennis Isiuzo and over 30 priests, most of whom were ex-seminarians of the school. Also in attendance were the State Commissioners of Education, Youth, Sports and Information – Professor Kate Omenugha, Dr. Mrs. UjuNwogu and Chief Tony Nnacheta respectively.

The Governor used the occasion to remind the congregation of his efforts to alleviate the pains of the recession: “that the market women are no longer required to pay the market levies; same for the barrow and truck users, the Okada riders and the hawkers. If anybody asks you for money, tell him to wait; just rush and call the police for that person. Presently, we have 30 people handed over to the police for prosecution. We shall no longer tolerate those who disobey our orders any longer.”

The Governor also made it clear that from this new session, “students from JSS 3 are free, I mean F-R-E-E from buying text books and farming materials that used to be the order of the day.”

He went on to advice the Rector of the Seminary, Rev. Fr. Leo Mozie, to meet his Commissioner for Agriculture for some seedlings for the growing of vegetables, cocoyam, yam, etc.

The highlight of the celebration was when the Archbishop of Onitsha, who is the Proprietor of the school, asked that the governor and his entourage should join the procession for the blessing and the dedication of the e-library and the music studio.
