No man born or unborn can stop Christianity in Nigeria- Osinbajo

…Says this is no time for Christians to complain over persecutions
Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo has appealed to Christians in the country in the face of killings especially with the recent murder of Catholic priests in Benue State by suspected herdsmen that this is not the time to complain but to pray for people in government stressing that governance is warfare.
The Vice President said this at the inauguration of the new 30,000 seater auditorium of the Deeper Life Church headquarters in Gbagada, Lagos which he described as the 4th largest edifice in the world.
Osinbajo said the dedication which also coincided with the unveiling of the Church’s new logo tagged ‘ Achieving Heaven’s Goal’ is at an exceptional time when the devil is more defiant in his resistance towards the church especially in the commission given to Christians by Jesus Christ to go into the world and bring men and women to salvation including those perpetrating the killings.
“We must go back to obey the command of the commission by going to the world to disciple people including those perpetrating the killings”, he said.
Osinbajo said it is the duty of the church to pray for those in government because governance is a warfare.
He said allegations have been made that there are specific locations in the country where churches must not be established but he has tendered this before Mr President who upholds the right of all citizens to freedom of worship.
He said the plan of the devil is to cause religious conflicts in Nigeria as he cited the recent bombing of a mosque in Bama, Borno State.
” As a body of Christ we must not lose hope, there is no man whether born or unborn that can stop the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in this country, God said He has built His Church and the gate of hell shall not prevail”he said.
Osinbajo said those of them in government are likened to Biblical Esther who was told that peradventure for this purpose you were enthroned for the deliverance of the Jews.
“Esther replied Mordecai to gather all the people in Shushan to fast and pray for her, likewise I am calling on all Christians to pray for the people in government, support us with your prayer and fasting, this is no time to complain”, he said.
Lagos State Governor Akinwumi Ambode said the State is proud to associate with the Church because the beautiful edifice compliment and impacts positively on aesthetics of Lagos as a mega city.
Ambode who was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr (Mrs) Lola Akande said as a government, he will continue to protect and support citizens rights to freedom of worship to the extent that people’s rights are not infringed upon.
General Superintendent of Deeper Life, Pastor William Kumuyi said the new Auditorium has surpassed the initial plan which started in June , 2005.
According to him, the goal is to make the Auditorium a gate to heaven and a place of worship.
” Our aim is to partner with government in fighting social vices especially corruption in the land by transforming lives for Christ which will in turn transform our land”, he said.
