Nigerians in Spain condemns spate of insecurity in Nigeria

Newly elected members of the Federation of Nigerian Communities in Spain have condemned in clear terms the state of insecurity in Nigeria particularly in reference to the recent spate of killings and wanton destruction of lives and property by the Fulani herdsmen.
In a statement issued shortly after its election, held on 23rd of April 2016 in Madrid, the Spanish capital, new president, Comrade Lamptay Oriakhi, expressed grave concern over the spate of insecurity in the country.
While commending the efforts of the Nigerian Army at routing Boko Haram, Oriakhi maintained that the recent mayhem being unleashed by the Fulani herdsmen across Nigeria may add a dangerous twist to the gains of the Nigerian army over the war on terror.
Oriakhi further stated that the state of insecurity ranging from terrorism, to kidnapping, armed robbery and social amenities degeneration in the country threatens growth as many investment opportunities are being lost to these menace.
He added that the issues are having multiplier effects on Nigerians in the diaspora who are either losing loved ones or are paying through their noses to sustain their family’s livelihood. The President also stated that these negative developments have challenged the hope of Nigerians in the Diaspora who would have loved to go home and invest and contribute their quotas to national development.
Oriakhi also called on President Muhammadu Buhari, whom he described as the chief security officer of the Nigerian state, to use his good offices to address these burning issues that are fast threatening national peace and intellectual security.
Meanwhile, the outgone president of the group, Emmanuel Udieba, also expressed fears of a reprisal attacks that is capable of degenerating into national catastrophe in the wake of recent attacks by suspected herdsmen across the country.
He therefore called on a stepped up effort by the Nigeria police that have sometimes been accused of slow action.
