Nigerian Expatriate Ajala Oakunle Abayomi Empowers Burkina Faso Engineers in Fourth Industrial Revolution

In a rapidly evolving global landscape dominated by the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Ajala Oakunle Abayomi, a Nigerian expatriate and Technical Support Specialist at Galooli, has left an indelible mark in Burkina Faso.

From January to July 2021, Abayomi drive capacity-building initiatives to integrate cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) technologies into the nation’s telecom sector, enabling a new wave of innovation and efficiency.

Abayomi’s role with Galooli revolved around implementing IoT-driven remote monitoring solutions for Burkina Faso Telecom projects, notably for American Tower.

His responsibilities included training technicians on advanced IoT systems, such as hybrid power installation, rectifier integration, and network benchmarking testing. This initiative aimed to enhance security, reduce operational costs(OPEX Savings), and improve energy efficiency at telecom sites.

“The goal was not only to introduce state-of-the-art technology but to ensure its sustainability by empowering local engineers with the skills needed to install, integrate, and manage these systems,” Abayomi stated.

With a Master’s degree in Information Technology Management from Indiana Wesleyan University in Ohio, USA, and a Bachelor’s in Physics with Electronics from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Nigeria, Abayomi brought a wealth of expertise to his role. His approach went beyond technical training; it included mentoring local technicians in problem-solving, cross-cultural communication, and project management.

“Capacity building is more than transferring knowledge; it’s about fostering a mindset of innovation and adaptability among local engineers,” he emphasized.
One of Abayomi’s standout achievements was the successful execution of the Burkina Faso Telecoms IoT Remote Monitoring Project.

His work contributed to significant operational savings for American Tower and advanced the telecom sector’s technological capabilities. He trained a new generation of engineers in IoT implementation, ensuring the project’s long-term success.

“Ajala’s efforts have been transformative,” said a local engineer who participated in the training. “He not only introduced us to advanced technologies but also showed us how to manage projects efficiently and adapt them to our local context.”

Abayomi’s work in Burkina Faso reflects his broader professional ethos: leveraging technology to address complex problems and drive progress. With over eight years of experience in networks security, IoT devices, and telecommunications, he has consistently contributed to global advancements in cybersecurity, cloud technology, and IoT applications.

His commitment to continuous learning and innovation has positioned him as a role model for aspiring IT professionals in both Nigeria and Burkina Faso. Beyond his technical contributions, Abayomi’s dedication to cultural integration and adaptability underscores the importance of cross-border collaboration in solving global challenges.

As Burkina Faso engineers step confidently into the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the impact of Abayomi’s expertise and mentorship continues to resonate. His work not only advances technological capabilities but also strengthens the bridge between nations in their shared pursuit of progress.

For Ajala Olakunle Abayomi, the journey of empowering others is far from over. “Technology has no borders,” he remarked. “By sharing knowledge, we create a future where everyone can thrive.”
