Nigerian athletes to participate at IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai, Tunisia

No fewer than seven Nigerian athletes are to feature at the forthcoming International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics Grand Prix, slated for Dubai and Tunisia.
The President of the Para-athletics Federation of Nigeria (PFN), Dr Frank Thorpe, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Thursday.
He said that the athletes comprised five males and two females. The first stanza of the event is scheduled for March 17 to March 20, while the second scheduled for March 24 to March 26 in Tunis, Tunisia.
The PFN president expressed his optimism that the Nigerian athletes would do Nigeria proud at the qualifiers.
“We have seven athletes who will feature at the qualifiers, although we are still processing their visas but I am hopeful, we will attend.
“I also believe that we will qualify for the paralympics because the athletes have been training for a while.”
Thorpe noted that the team was due to travel to Dubai on March 14, noting that they would travel immediately to Tunisia for the second phase of the qualifiers.
“They will move straight from Dubai to Tunisia because the time difference is short. I have belief that they will qualify in both.” (NAN)
