Nigeria Electoral process will be better if security agencies replicate Niger State Police Command efforts says REC

Electoral Process in Nigeria stand a better chance and could be improved if all security agencies in the country replicate the professional conduct of the Niger State Police Command in election security.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Sam Egwu said this while opening the Collation of the Niger State Governorship Election Result at the INEC Office, David Mark Road, Minna on Sunday.
Prof. Egwu commended the police in Niger State in conjunction with other security agencies for professional conduct during the governorship and State assembly elections as well as in the February 23 Presidential polls.
He charged security agencies in the country to know that they have vital role to play in election security and strengthening of the nation’s democracy.
“If the efforts and conduct of the Niger State Police Command during election period could be replicated throughout the country, we can all go and sleep with our Electoral process”, he said.
The REC was impressed by a great improvement recorded in yesterday’s poll over the previous one but acknowledge a few imperfection.
He, however, commended party agents and the political parties for enduring the shortcomings.
He said ” we are happy with the smart card readers, though it was not a total perfection but in the face of imperfection, the parties endure . All commendation goes to the party agents for enduring our imperfection”.
