Niger to support NUT on e-learning
The Niger State government on Sunday said that it would support the development of e-learning programme established by the state Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) Endwell Model Science School, Minna.
The Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fatima Madugu, made the remark during the maiden prize giving day of the school for 2015/2016 academic year in Minna.
“You will get every support you need to improve this e-learning programme. We are not going to shy away from our responsibility as a government in helping this school achieve its dreams.
“This school is part of us because it is situated in Niger State, so we will do our best to develop it,” she said.
Madugu then commended the efforts of the management, staff and Board of Trustee of the school for impacting positively on the pupils.
“The kind of pupils you have presented here today show that you have good teachers and we will not fail on our part to encourage you”, she said.
Similarly, Lead Consultant to the school, Mrs. Ramatu Garba, said that test-running the school on an e-platform programme had commenced.
According to her, “we are now test-running the school on an e-platform and very soon we will kick-start the Computer Based Testing (CBT) and online admission.
“With the CBT the children would be required to take most of their examinations on the computer.”
Also Mrs Elizabeth Winstance, another consultant to the school from the United Kingdom said that the school had introduced differentiation methodology of instruction.
Winstance explained that it is a process by which differences between learners were accommodated so that all students in a group would have the best possible chance of learning.
