Niger state SUBEB sacks 20 teachers over certificate forgery

A total of 20 teaching staff of the Niger state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) have been dismissed from service in the Public Primary Schools for having questionable Certificates and abscond from duty posts.
According to a statement from the board, made available to Newsmen in Minna, four of the sacked teachers are from the Gbako local government area of the state and, three each from Bida and Lapai.
Others are, two each from Agaie, Katcha, and Lavun and one each from Mashegu, Munya, and Shiroro while one teacher was dismissed in Kontagora for dereliction of work.
The statement revealed that the decision was taken at the management meeting in furtherance of the board’s determination to ensuring that only those with requisite qualifications and zeal to work would be allowed into the teaching profession especially at the basic level of education in the state.
It cited the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Isah Adamu as saying that the board has resolved to flush out all unqualified teachers in public primary schools as part of measures to restore the quality of teaching and learning at the basic level of education.
Furthermore, the board added that this is the first phase of those whose certificates have been verified by the institutions they claimed to have attended.
