Niger govt warns against lateness to work

The Niger State Government, on Sunday, warned that it would dismiss any civil servant that disobeys civil service rules by coming late to work.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, saying that coming to work late would not be tolerated by this administration.

Vatsa urged civil servants in the state to change their altitude towards coming to work late and going home early, adding that the state government viewed it as sabotage to the development of the state.

According to him, “The idea of coming to work any time you feel like is gone. Workers in the state must wake up to their responsibility or face the wrath of the law.”

He further warned that those who have two jobs in Ministries to desist from the act, and those in the habit of staying at home when they should be in the office would be declared as ghost workers.

It would be recalled that Niger State has about 60,000 workers – including the local government areas, but not all report to work, some are staying at home and at the end of the month are paid salaries.
