Niger APC chairman assures Buhari of victory

By Saka Bolaji, Minna

Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Niger state, Mohammed Jibrin Imam has declared that President Muhammadu Buhai would record more than 83 per cent of the votes in the state during Saturday’s Presidential election. Imam, who addressed a news conference in Minna as part of activities to roundup the state wide campaign of the party, noted that from the feedback during the campaign APC members were assured of the unshaken support of the people for President Muhamadu Buhari and Governor Abubakar Sani Bello. According to the chairman, the people appreciate the fact that APC government in the state and at the federal level met their aspiration of embarking on developmental programmes that have direct bearing on their lives. The chairman stated that “governmental achievements go beyond gigantic buildings but providing the basic needs of the people like water, electricity and others which the APC government has exemplified by meeting the aspiration of the people.” He said Governor Abubakar Sani Bello was able to provide water in almost all the communities that were abandoned for several years; including Beji the village of the incumbent chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party. “In Gurara for instance, the water project was started by Abdukadir Kure administration 1999. The PDP government that followed abandoned the project until the APC government came to complete it 15 years after; the same thing in Bida there was no water for several years but the APC government provided them with water. The same thing we provided communities with electricity and transformers,” Imam added. He stated that considering the achievements so far, at the reception accorded the party during the state wide campaign, it is obvious that the party will score more than the 83 per cent of the votes recorded in 2015 for President Muhammadu Buhari. The Chairman posited that even when the PDP was in power and used all instruments of power they could only score more than 17 per cent of the votes during the presidential election in 2015 and that now that they don’t have such instrument of power it would be difficult to get up to the 17 per cent of the votes.
