NGO organizes classes for over 300 IDP children in Abuja

As part of measures to cushion the effects of coronavirus pandemic on vulnerable children in the country, an Abuja based Non-Governmental Organisation, NGO, Anneozeng Ogozi Aid Foundation, AOAF, has organized a programme, “TEACH A VULNERABLE CHILD” for over 300 Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) children.

Founder of the foundation, Anneozeng Ogozi, while addressing newsmen at the camp said the two-week programme, which started on July 6, at the IPD camp in new Kuchingoro village of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, is aimed at providing basic knowledge of education to the vulnerable children, who have no access to online education during this lockdown as a result of coronavirus pandemic.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is revolutionizing digital and online education globally, but over 300 children in the IDP camp at New Kuchingoro, FCT-ABUJA, don’t have that privilege, and the little education they were receiving before the lockdown has been put a hold.

“Therefore as part of the Foundation’s ‘Teach a Vulnerable Child” programme, the staff of Anneozeng Ogozi Aid Foundation, have put it upon themselves to carry out a two-week outreach to make sure that these children receive the basic knowledge of education with effect from July 6 to July 17 including the COVID-19 sensitization aspect.

Speaking further, Ogozi noted that the Foundation carried out the outreach to complement the efforts of government and for the benefit of the vulnerable children.

“The gesture is to see that those in the IDP camp also enjoy what other children out there are enjoying, so that they can as well feel the sense of belonging”

Anneozeng Ogozi Foundation, over the years has empowered thousands of widows across the country and as well trained many youths and vulnerable children.
