Ndigbo to celebrate new yam in Spain Sept 7

The Association of Igbo Community in Bilbao Pais- Vasco, in the Northern region of Spain, is rolling out the drums come September 7, 2019, to celebrate the ancient rites of the New Yam Festival in affinity with the Igbo nation.
Inviting all Igbos in the Spanish soil to “come and showcase our rich culture”, promoter and Master of Ceremony of the occasion, Her Excellency, Chief Princess (Mrs.) Nwanne Campo, the Osodieme 1 of Awka kingdom,
a Spaniard by marriage as well as Peace and Cultural Ambassador, told The Daily Times in a telephone chat that she is seizing the opportunity to flaunt the spirituality defining the natural and cultural essence of the New Yam Festival synonymous with Ndigbo worldwide, before her married country folks.
“It would be a bumper festival such as the Spaniards have never witnessed”, she said.
The showbiz impresario and fashion exegete promises loads of activities, refreshment and entertainment, including a live band, comedy and more.
Chief Guest of honour is Chief Ferdinand Akpusi, the Ohaneze Ndigbo chieftain in Madrid, Spain.
President of the association, Mr. Ray Chuma Jr. and Vice President Mr. Innocent Adakonye disclosed that they will “spare absolutely nothing to make our host country feel the pulse and energy of Ndigbo culture”.
Secretary of the association, Mr. Benjamin Chidi revealed that CalleTelleria, No.7, Bolueta Bilbao, venue of the event has been prepared to host Igbo Cultural Dance Group (the heritage entertainment arm of Igbo Union in Pamplona, Spain) alongside other entertainment surprises at the grand event.
