NBA calls for proper designation of ‘No Parking Zone’ in Benin
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Benin chapter, has appealed to the Edo State government to implement the new Traffic Management System in such a way that it would not cause untold hardship to the people.
The chapter Chairman of the chapter, Mr Collins Ogiegbaen, made the appeal in a statement in Benin on Friday.
He said one of the ways to make the new policy easy for the people was for the state government to properly designate points within the city centre, as “No Parking Zone”, before the implementation.
The new policy was reeled out on Wednesday by the state government, tagged “No Parking Zone.“
It is part of the implementation of the New Traffic Management System in the City centre to curb vehicular congestion around.
The Chairman also called for the streamlining of the areas involved in order to prevent a scenario where citizen would embark on long and unnecessary trekking, even when they had cars.
Ogiegbaen said, “Government must bear in the mind that, the purpose of governance must be utilitarian, that is, the greatest happiness for the greatest number of people.”
However, the state government has warned that any vehicle found within some zones of the city centre would be toyed and owner prosecuted for violation of traffic rule.
