NB consolidates leadership, wins sectorial leadership award

In consolidation of its leadership status in the Nigerian consumer goods sector and returns on investments to shareholders and stakeholders, the Nigerian Breweries Plc has once again been rewarded for its role in Nigeria’s economic advancement with leadership award.
The Nigerian brewing giant, for its outstanding performance in the Consumer Goods Sector of the Nigerian economy, bagged the sectoral leadership award at the 2017 Pearl Awards which held recently. Nigerian Breweries emerged winner in the Consumer Goods (Breweries) category which Guinness Nigeria Plc and International Breweries Plc were also nominated for.
The company was presented with the 2017 Sectoral Leadership Award in the Consumer Goods Category (Breweries) at the event, which held at the Grand Ball Room, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Corporate Affairs Adviser, Nigerian Breweries, Kufre Ekanem, lauding the awards stated: “We view this award as recognition of our previous performances and as our call to duty to keep delivering value.
As Nigeria’s foremost brewer, our commitment to our shareholders and other stakeholders drives our passion for high performance and delivery of quality, not just in our product offering, but also in all our interactions with Nigeria. We remain committed to these values.”
Ekanem commended the organisers of the award for the recognition and congratulated them for sustaining the initiative in the last 22 years.
The event drew attendance from dignitaries including a former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd.); Governor of Lagos state, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, who was represented by the commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon. (Mrs.) Lola Akande; Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr. Oscar Onyema; immediate past president of the Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr. Aigboje Aig Imoukhuede.
The PEARL (Performance Earning and Returns Leadership) Awards Project was instituted in 1995 with an annual awards night to recognize and reward publicly-quoted companies for outstanding operational and stock performance in order to enhance the vibrancy, growth and development of the capital market. Criteria for the Pearl Awards are based on verifiable indices, facts and figures published in the Nigerian Stock Market Annual (NSMA).
