Naming of railway stations after Jonathan, Awolowo is an insult, Clark fires at FG

Veteran Ijaw leader and Elder Statesman of the Federal Republic, Sir Edwin Clark has fired at the Federal Government for dishonouring former president Goodluck Jonathan and foremost Nationalist, Obafemi Awolowo by naming newly designed government projects after the two former leaders.

The Elder Statesman claimed that it is a gross disrespect to line up both names alongside other less accomplished Nigerians in the same hall of fame.

He therefore called on the Presidency to withdraw the honour, as it was not befitting to the two former Nigerian leaders.

Daily Times had earlier reported the decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to name the railway station in Agbor, Delta State as Goodluck Jonathan Railway station and Complex.

While the former president seemed appreciative of the gesture, Sir Edwin Clark has called on the Federal Government to withdraw the honour which he believes to implicitly dishonour the accomplishments of two great patriots.
