Mysterious Fire Guts Popular Radio Station

WARRI— A Friday evening fire outbreak has destroyed properties and broadcasting equipment worth millions of naira belonging to Moss Media Limited, owners and operators of Current FM 90.7, one of the leading Commercial Radio Stations in Delta State.
A reliable source, said the fire which started before the 7pm news, was however contained and brought under control with fire extinguishers by the news crew and co workers on night shift.
The source, who is one of the workers of the FM Station further stated that no sooner have they began preparing to cast the evening news when the fire rekindled outside, resulting in the explosion of an air conditioner compressor.
The source also said that the fire engulfed the studio and all other offices of the station. The intensity of the fire made the workers to run out of the building for their lives.
While lamenting the inability of the Delta State Fire Service, who came almost two hours after they were called, the Shell Fire Service came late after the building was completely razed down and all properties destroyed, as the fire that started about 7pm lasted till after 2am.
The source said that the fire outbreak have some political undertones as he point accusing fingers at some political elements, and an assassination attempt on the life of the Chairman and CEO of the station, Prince Moses Samuel.
It was gathered that the radio station have lost relationship with certain persons either in government and private sector because of the way they treat topical issues concerning politics, business and human angle story, and they do not cut corners because of their bluntness.
Prince Moses Samuel who is the Supervisor for Environmental and Highway Traffic, a high and sensitive political office Violation does not also tolerate tolerate offenders not being prosecuted because he does not take bribe except the right thing is done which makes a lot of people detest his approach to sanitizing the system.
As at the time of filing this report, the DPO of Enerhen Police Station, CSP Mark Audi, the Local Government Area Chairman Hon. Chief Anthony Ofoni, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Elder Efe Okoledo and other well- meaning individuals have visited the burnt premises of the Radio station which is located at Okah House, opposite Glo Office in Effurun in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.
The matter has since been reported at the Enerhen Police Station. Since the incident happened. The traumatic CEO of Current FM, Prince Moses Samuel has gone into hiding for the safety of his live and that of his family members.
