MARAN denies merger with any group

The Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has restated that it is not in any merger arrangement with any group.
In a statement issued by the executive council of the oldest and leading reporters’ association in Nigeria, it stated that MARAN is as vibrant as ever and still in the vanguard of developmental journalism in the maritime industry and does not intend to abdicate that responsibility.
The association, in the statement weekend said this clarification became necessary in view of deliberate misinformation and falsehood being peddled around that MARAN is part of the merger arrangement with another group.
‘’MARAN however is still open to persons who are qualified journalists and cover the maritime sector’’, the statement read.
The executive council of MARAN therefore unequivocally denounces and dissociates the association from any merger arrangement as the reports on social media to that effect was mere rumour which emanated from the fertile imagination of its sponsors who are desperate to use the credible name and legacy, which MARAN has garnered over the years through robust journalism, to give credibility to the said group.
‘’We cherish the sanctity of the long tradition of excellence which MARAN has come to be identified with over the years and we don’t intend to flitter these gains away under any guise’’, the association resolved.
