Man arrested for impersonating journalist in lagos
The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force had arrested a man who had impersonated to be a journalist with Television Continental Contl
The Chairman of the Agency SP Olayinka Egbeyemi disclosed that the suspect was arrested during an enforcement operation carried out around Maryland and its environs where 67 miscreants and hoodlums were arrested and traders selling and displaying wares goods at unauthorised places were dislodged.
The Chairman disclosed further ” the suspect was arrested while obstructing the personnel of the Agency from performing their legitimate duty around Maryland and its environs.
” The suspect Mr. Soji Gboye 36yrs from Ilaje in Ondo State who claimed he was a correspondent with Television Continental could not properly identify himself when interrogated”
SP Egbeyemi who called on the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer (DPPRO) to immediately Investigated further with the management of the media outfit he mentioned and it was discovered he was not thier staff that he only impersonated himself as a journalist.
When Gboye who claimed to live at No 5, Adesoye Street, Mende, Maryland, Lagos noticed that the Chairman had discovered that he was not a journalist, he immeditely confessed that he never worked with the media outfit and that he was not a journalist.
He said he only impersonated himself to be a journalist just to regain his freedom and that any time he had issues with any uniformed men he always impersonated to be a journalist and he had never been doubted for once.
Gboye however said the Agency should have mercy on him.
Meanwhile all the 67 arrested miscreants are be charge to court while the fake journalist will be transferred immediately to State CID, Panti Street, Yaba, Lagos.
SP Egbeyemi who said the Agency and other security outfits would not relent at getting rid of criminals and hoodlums however enjoined members of the public to always furnish security outfits with useful information on criminal activities across the State.
