Lawmakers partner with Amosun to develop Ogun
Lawmakers representing Ogun State at the national and state levels have resolved to collaborate with the state governor in a bid to strengthen socioeconomic development of the state.
The lawmakers stated this in Abeokuta on Tuesday at a session with the State Executive Council, SEC, presided over by Governor Ibikunle Amosun.
Member representing Ogun Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Dr Lanre Tejuoso, said the effort would enable the state to benefit from the policies and programmes of the Federal Government.
Also, House of Representatives members, representing Imeko Afon and Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu Federal Constituencies, Mr Kayode Oladele and Kehinde Odeneye, noted the collaboration of the executive and legislative arms of government would help to improve the social wellbeing of the people.
The speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Alhaji Suraju Adekunbi noted that the measure would assist the state to domesticate some of the policies and programmes introduced at the federal level.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Ibikunle Amosun said the meeting was to deliberate with the lawmakers on areas of interest that would benefit the state, particularly with the ongoing budget processing.
Governor Amosun explained that the initiative was not all about the party but in the interest of the overall development of the state.
