Lagos U-18 Karate tourney holds July 1

The Lagos State Karate Association in conjunction with the Samshi Karate Academy Lagos has concluded plans to organize an exciting Under-18 Karate Championship on Saturday, July 1, 2017.
U-18 Karatakers drawn from schools and clubs in and around Lagos State are expected to feature in the programme starting from 8am on Saturday, July 1, at the Rowe Park Sports Center, Yaba, Lagos.
Founder of the Samchi Academy who is also coordinator of Shitoryu Karate D. O. International (Nigeria Branch), Sensei Adejebe Samuel explained that the programme is aimed at getting the best from youthful karatakers.
While expressing gratitude to MMM Nigeria for bankrolling the Lagos Samchi Karate Championship, Sensei Adejebe appealed to other sports-loving corporate groups and individuals to fully participate in karate development in the country.
“We lack words to appreciate MMM Nigeria and we need more support from other sports loving groups as we aim to create more awareness and programmes particularly now that karate would feature in the Olympic Games,” said sensei Adejebe who also said more interested states, clubs and teams are welcomed.
He added that beside trophies and other prizes to be won on Saturday, the Lagos/Samchi U-18 karate programme would be very beneficial to all stakeholders since karate values like discipline, self defence, humility, toughness, courtesy, fearlessness and mental development would be thought.
