Lagos LG begins IGR data collection exercise

Iba local council development area (LCDA) of Lagos State is conducting data collection exercise of all its revenue items and points in the council area, to update the Council’s data base towards improving the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
The Executive Secretary of the council, Hon. Isiaka Yaya, in a statement released by the LCDA, said the data collection was necessary to provide a robust information of all revenue sources available to the local government area, adding that the local government was in dire need of revenue, considering the shrinking allocation to local government.
He added that the decision to conduct the data collection exercise was reached at the 2016 budget retreat, organised by the council which involve the leadership, heads of department units and revenue officer of the council.
Yaya stressed that the local government cannot afford to hide under the guise of paucity of fund as an excuse for poor performance, adding that the positive result would enable the council to deliver more dividends of democracy to the populace.
